About the Role
Arts, Heritage and Libraries branch role is to enrich the lives of residents and visitors by providing arts and cultural leadership, opportunities, knowledge, development, connections and experience.
The Supervisor Library will assist in building community capacity and strengthening community well-being through the provision of effective, responsive, and innovative library services, assisting with the evolution of the Library Services team and improving community access to information, recreation, services, networks and resources.
Key duties of this role will include:
- Manage all the operations within the library hub, facilitating excellence in customer service and maximising the efficient and effective utilisation of human, financial and other resources.
- Manage the recruitment, training, motivation and development of staff to enhance teamwork and continue the delivery of high quality services, programs and activities to the community.
- Facilitate equitable access to community resources, information, funding opportunities and other professional services to develop the skills and networks to build the capacity of sustainable communities.
- Maximise the opportunities for cooperation and partnership within the Arts Heritage & Libraries branch, with other departments and other government agencies, learning providers, business and community groups.
About you
As a requirement of this role, you will:
- Possess a tertiary qualification in Library Science, Community Development, Management or other related discipline.
- Demonstrated minimum 5 years’ experience in a library environment and / or customer service environment or equivalent relevant experience.
- Demonstrated leadership skills to foster strong, customer focused teams and foster a workplace culture consistent with Council’s corporate values.
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate persuasively, influence effectively, consult with a wide range of people at all levels of the Council, and foster collaboration, cooperation and teamwork.
- Have a strong business acumen including the ability to prepare professional business communication such as reports, presentations and project, planning and policy documents with demonstrated ability to operate effectively with relevant business and libraries technologies.
