About the Role

The Community Activation Branch delivers and maintains high-quality facilities that support community participation, major events and active lifestyles across the Sunshine Coast. From nationally recognised sporting venues to community recreation spaces, the branch plays a vital role in enhancing the region's wellbeing, liveability and reputation as a destination for sport and events.

As the Senior Sports Turf Officer, you will lead the delivery of sports turf and horticultural maintenance services across Sunshine Coast Stadium and other regional sporting precincts. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for ensuring playing surfaces and grounds are presented to the highest standard, supporting community use, major events and elite-level competition. You'll have the opportunity to lead a skilled team, coordinate projects and contribute to some of the region's most significant sporting facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise the horticultural maintenance team at Sunshine Coast Stadium and / or other assigned venues.
  • Coordinate sports turf, irrigation, landscaping and precinct maintenance activities.
  • Manage contractors, resources and maintenance programs to achieve service outcomes.
  • Support venue operations and major events through high-quality field presentation.

About you

You are an experienced parks, horticulture or sports turf professional who takes pride in delivering high-quality outdoor spaces and exceptional presentation standards.

You have demonstrated experience leading teams, coordinating maintenance programs and achieving operational outcomes in a safe, efficient and customer-focused environment.

You bring strong technical knowledge of sports turf, horticulture or landscape maintenance, with the ability to plan works, manage resources and oversee contractors.

You hold a Certificate IV in Horticulture, a Sports Turf trade qualification, or equivalent experience, and have a strong commitment to workplace health, safety and environmental practices

Pre-Employment Medical Required

Essential to your success is physical agility and the level of fitness, strength and dexterity to carry out labouring and frequent heavy lifting & bending. As such, appointment to this position is subject to completion of a pre-employment medical assessment.
