About the Role

The primary purpose of the role is to manage the day-to-day operation of library circulation, providing excellent customerbexperience to internal and external customers.

This role will be including but not limited to:

  • Roster, supervise and assist library staff (when required) in the provision of frontline services to library users to ensure quality control of circulation procedures and appropriate distribution of workloads.
  • Assist the Branch Team Leader and other staff with the development and delivery of promotional, youth support, outreach and other programs as required to increase awareness of the library and its services to external and internal customers.
  • Lead the Library as required when the Team Leader is not present, including opening and closing the library, the handling of monies collected in libraries in line with set procedures, and liaison with contractors and other areas of council to ensure library is maintained in good condition as required. 
  • Provide advice, guidance, and support to Senior Library Officers at other Libraries within the network specifically as it applies to problem solving and the resolution of escalated queries or issues as required

 About you

 As a requirement of this role, you will:

  • Possess Diploma of Librarian and Information Science or other related discipline or equivalent combination of qualifications and experience.
  • Demonstrated substantial relevant experience in a Library environment, customer service environment or other relevant experience.
  • Have the ability to undertake regular weekend work (under any 5 in 7 arrangement) as required.
  • Possess current Blue Card and current First Aid Certificate or ability to obtain one.
  • Have strong communication and customer service skills with demonstrated ability to use initiative and sound judgement to guide employees, and resolve issues.

Pre-Employment Medical Required

Essential to your success is physical agility and the level of fitness, strength and dexterity to carry out labouring and frequent heavy lifting & bending. As such, appointment to this position is subject to completion of a pre-employment medical assessment.
