About the Role
The Project Delivery branch are currently recruiting for a Permanent Full-Time Project Inspector as well as a Temporary Full-Time Senior Project Inspector (until June 2027).
The role of the Project Delivery branch to oversee the coordination and safe delivery of all allocated capital projects and management of the Council Asset Management systems and protocols.
As a Project Inspector you will undertake inspections, regular safety audits and supervision of construction and / or maintenance of assigned council capital works infrastructure projects and provide high level customer service outcomes across the following council construction infrastructure projects (but not limited to): Buildings and facilities, structural, recreational, sports and open space, parks and gardens, mechanical and electrical, emergency, maintenance, and repair work, development related works, asset condition reporting, and performance reporting.
You will supervise capital works projects and conduct thorough inspections of construction sites to ensure adherence to quality standards, service delivery, workmanship and identify and address any deviations from plans or specifications promptly with the contractor and the Project Manager.
You will contribute to the establishment of and monitoring of systems and processes in support of quality management to ensure successful delivery of medium to high complexity projects in partnership with external contractors.
In addition to this, as a Senior Project Inspector you will also be responsible for the compliance with contractual documents, and maintaining industry best practices, managing the performance of contractors, suppliers and consultants, and certifying quality of their work by demonstrating proactive communications and providing guidance to contractors to ensure project compliance.
About you
As a requirement of the roles, you will have well-developed organisational and decision-making skills, including demonstrated achievement in effective planning, organising and co-ordination of diverse and complex tasks and projects in a rapidly changing environment, and strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively to solve problems.
You will possess a certificate IV in Construction and/or demonstrated relevant experience, qualifications and knowledge in construction and maintenance of council infrastructure including the application of contemporary principles, practices, and methods.
As a Senior Project Inspector, you will have proven ability to be a team leader and supervise, develop, and motivate staff in a construction and maintenance environment, along with a demonstrated understanding of workplace health and safety, and relevant environmental legislation.
