About My Summer Workplace
Are you currently studying, or have recently graduated and needing to gain experience within the industry? My Summer Workplace is a 12-week paid internship program with Sunshine Coast Council that will equip you with the skills, opportunities, networks and confidence you need to step into your chosen career.
Commencing in November 2025 and concluding February 2026, you will need to be available to work four days per week for this 12-week period. Note - There will be a 2-week unpaid break over the Christmas period.

About this Internship
As the Intern – Major Sports Facilities, you will gain experience and exposure to:
- Assist in planning and delivering major events, including preparing daily and weekly operational schedules.
- Support Senior Event Managers in coordinating event delivery according to client briefs.
- Manage communication and progress tracking across multiple stakeholders during events.
- Provide administrative support and assist with setup of function and event spaces in line with facility hire agreements.
- Research and identify new event opportunities and contribute to the preparation of submissions and reports.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders, including community groups, council departments, and event organisations.
- Support ticketing operations for events, including ticket builds, sales, distribution, and reconciliation.
- Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
- Participate in event coordination activities as rostered.
- Assist with day-to-day operations of the Major Sport Facilities Precinct and contribute to various projects as required.
About you:
To be eligible for My Summer Workplace, you must:
- Be enrolled in a tertiary course and have completed 16 or more subjects, or;
- Have recently graduated from university (within 12 months of graduation); or
- Have recently completed a TAFE Diploma (within 12 months of graduation);
- Be able to attend the Assessment Centre on 29 October 2025.
- Possess Australian working rights:
- Citizen (AU/NZ)
- Permanent Resident
- Current valid visa, with unrestricted working rights for the duration of the program
