About the Role

The Transport Assets & Operations Branch delivers high-quality maintenance, construction and asset management services for Council's road network and related infrastructure, including pavements, bridges, drainage, pathways and street furniture. Continuous performance improvement through leadership and employee engagement is a key focus of the team.

As a Civil Field Leader, you will provide on-site leadership and support to the Supervisor - Civil in coordinating day-to-day construction activities. You will lead crews in the safe and efficient delivery of capital works projects, foster a positive team culture, and ensure projects are completed efficiently while meeting quality, safety and environmental standards.

Key responsibilities include, but not limited to;

• Lead and supervise civil construction crews
• Plan daily work schedules, resource and plant allocation
• Support workforce planning and project delivery activities
• Read and interpret design drawings, specifications and survey set-out information
• Monitor site safety, environmental and quality management requirements
• Coordinate plant, equipment and material requirements
• Liaise as required with contractors, stakeholders and operational teams
• Support emergency response activities when required

About you

You are an experienced civil construction professional with proven leadership capability and a strong commitment to workplace safety. You are confident coordinating people, plant and resources while maintaining high standards of quality, productivity and customer service.

As a requirement of this role, you will possess:

• Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and organise teams
• Demonstrated experience delivering civil construction and rehabilitation projects including roads, drainage systems, bridges and culverts, cycleways or other like community infrastructure
• Proven ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities, and maintain strong attention to detail
• Demonstrated plan reading, survey set-out and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to use business technologies such as MS Office and mobile devices
• A strong commitment to workplace health, safety and environmental compliance

Essential to your success is physical agility and the level of fitness, strength and dexterity to carry out labouring and frequent heavy lifting & bending. As such, appointment to this position is subject to completion of a pre-employment medical assessment.
