About the Role

The Transport Assets & Operations Branch delivers maintenance, construction and asset management services across the Sunshine Coast's transport network. Supporting roads, bridges, drainage systems, pathways and associated infrastructure, the branch plays a critical role in keeping the region safe, connected and sustainable, while delivering projects that enhance local communities.

As a Civil Field Worker, you will perform a variety of hands-on construction activities across Council's transport infrastructure network. This includes working on roads, drainage assets, bridges, pathways, cycleways and other public infrastructure. As part of the Civil Construction team, you will contribute to the safe, efficient and high-quality delivery of projects that support the ongoing growth and liveability of the Sunshine Coast.

  • Perform construction activities including concreting, kerb and channel works, stormwater drainage, road pavement, cycleway and bridge construction.
  • Operate and maintain relevant construction plant, machinery and equipment as required and within competency levels in accordance with operational requirements and safety standards.
  • Complete workplace documentation and actively contribute to a safe, compliant and environmentally responsible work environment.

About you

You hold a current Construction Industry General Safety Induction (White Card) and have a strong commitment to safe work practices in a construction or maintenance environment.

You bring significant practical experience in civil construction, maintenance or labouring activities and enjoy delivering quality outcomes through hands-on work.

You are a reliable team player who communicates effectively, follows work programs and instructions, and contributes positively to a high-performing team culture.

You have experience operating construction tools, plant or equipment and can apply sound problem-solving skills to complete tasks efficiently and safely. Relevant machinery tickets or licences will be highly regarded.

You hold a current Class C drivers’ licence (mandatory), along with a medium rigid (MR) drivers’ licence and Traffic Controllers licence (desirable).

Pre-Employment Medical Required

Essential to your success is physical agility and the level of fitness, strength and dexterity to carry out labouring and frequent heavy lifting & bending. As such, appointment to this position is subject to completion of a pre-employment medical assessment.
