About the Branch

The Transport Assets & Operations Branch plays a vital role in maintaining and improving the Sunshine Coast's road and related infrastructure assets, including pavements, bridges, drainage systems, pathways and street furniture. As part of the Infrastructure & Natural Assets Directorate, the branch is committed to delivering high-quality maintenance, construction and asset management services while continuously improving performance through teamwork, innovation and employee engagement.

About the Role

As a Civil Field Worker (Plant), you will be required to operate a backhoe in the gravel roads team and play a hands-on role in delivering and maintaining essential civil infrastructure across the Sunshine Coast region. Operating a range of construction plant and machinery, you will contribute to maintenance and construction projects that support safe and efficient transport networks. Working within a high-performing team, this is an excellent opportunity to combine your plant operating expertise with meaningful work that directly benefits the community.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of civil construction plant including excavators, loaders, rollers, tractors and low loaders.
• Undertake civil maintenance, construction and labouring activities associated with plant operations.
• Complete operational documentation including timesheets, logbooks and incident reports accurately and on time.
• Work collaboratively with team members while maintaining strong safety, environmental and customer service standards.

About You

You hold a Certificate III in Civil Construction or bring equivalent industry experience and have a strong understanding of civil maintenance and construction activities.

You are a skilled plant operator with experience operating and maintaining civil construction machinery and equipment in a safe and efficient manner.

You thrive in a team environment, contribute positively to workplace culture and enjoy working with others to achieve shared goals and deliver quality outcomes.

You have strong communication and problem-solving skills, can follow work programs effectively and take pride in delivering high-quality work within required timeframes.
