About the Role

The Regulatory Response Services Branch plays a vital role in ensuring the safety, amenity and wellbeing of the Sunshine Coast community. The branch delivers essential services that support residents while preserving important community spaces and maintaining high standards of public service.

As a Burials and Plaques Attendant, you will play an important role in delivering respectful, efficient, and compliant burial, memorial and cemetery services across the Sunshine Coast region. Working as part of a high-performing team, you will help ensure burial and memorial activities are carried out to a high standard while contributing to the presentation, maintenance and continual improvement of Council's cemeteries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct burial, interment and memorial installation activities.
  • Prepare graves and ash sites, including excavation and site setup.
  • Maintain cemetery grounds through horticultural and grave care works.
  • Operate and maintain plant, machinery and equipment safely and effectively.

About you

  • You are a reliable and respectful professional who can work confidently in a sensitive cemetery environment, demonstrating empathy, professionalism and attention to detail.
  • You have experience operating machinery and equipment in a civil, parks, landscaping, cemetery or similar operational environment and take pride in delivering quality outcomes.
  • You are safety focused, with a strong commitment to following procedures, maintaining high workplace standards, and contributing to a healthy and safe team culture.
  • You enjoy working collaboratively, communicating effectively with colleagues, funeral directors and customers, while delivering customer-focused services that reflect Council's values.

Pre-Employment Medical Required

Essential to your success is physical agility and the level of fitness, strength and dexterity to carry out labouring and frequent heavy lifting & bending. As such, appointment to this position is subject to completion of a pre-employment medical assessment.

Criminal History Check Required

Appointment to this position is subject to the satisfactory completion of a Criminal History Check.
