About the Role
The Waste and Resource Management Branch plays a vital role in delivering high-quality outcomes for the collection, recycling, and disposal of solid waste. We manage landfills, resource recovery centres, and champion education programs like “Reduce, Re-Use, Recycle.” Our work is essential to achieving Council’s vision of being Australia’s most sustainable region.
As a Technical Officer – Disposals & Projects, you’ll oversee the operational aspects of the regional landfill facilities and their operations ensuring compliance, efficiency, and innovation. This role is pivotal in managing contractors, delivering projects, and driving improvements that support sustainability and community outcomes. Key Responsibilities
- Ensure business continuity for the regional landfill operations, environmental compliance and contractor performance.
- Ensure business continuity for a regional resource recovery centre, environmental compliance and contractor performance.
- Plan and deliver operational and capital waste management projects aligned with strategic goals
- Oversee procurement and contract management for goods and services
About you
- Bachelor Degree in Engineering (Civil or Environmental) or equivalent, or a combination of extensive experience, expertise and competence, sufficient to perform all duties of the position at this level.
- Qualifications or equivalent expertise and competence in contract administration
- Skilled in managing complex projects and stakeholder relationships with confidence.
- Experienced in diversion, recovery, and disposal programs, with up-to-date industry knowledge.
- Strong interpersonal skills to partner across teams and engage contractors effectively.
