About the Role

As a Senior Landscape Architect, you will plan, design, and coordinate the delivery of built infrastructure projects and placemaking initiatives that enhance urban spaces and activate places. Your work will support community connection, accessibility, sustainability, and overall well-being. This role offers the opportunity to lead meaningful projects that shape vibrant, inclusive, and resilient environments.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Lead the planning, design, and delivery of landscape and urban infrastructure projects from concept to completion.
  • Develop and implement placemaking strategies that activate public spaces and foster community engagement.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, consultants, and stakeholders to ensure design outcomes align with project objectives and community needs.
  • Prepare high-quality design documentation, including concept plans, detailed drawings, and visual presentations.
  • Ensure projects incorporate principles of accessibility, sustainability, and environmental resilience.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior staff and contribute to a positive team culture.
  • Stay informed of industry trends, innovations, and best practices in landscape architecture and urban design.

About you

  • Tertiary Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, or a relevant equivalent from a recognised educational institution.
  • Professional Membership: Eligibility for membership with the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA) as a Registered Landscape Architect or equivalent.
  • Leadership Experience: Demonstrated ability to lead and empower others, with strong coaching and team development skills.
  • Project Management Expertise: Extensive experience in managing complex landscape, urban design, open space, and placemaking projects, including coordination of design teams, consultants, contracts, and approvals.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, with strengths in relationship building, negotiation, advocacy, and customer service.
  • Technical Proficiency: High-level proficiency in design and documentation practices, including:
    • Adobe Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)
    • AutoCAD
    • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Publisher)
    • GIS systems
  • Legislative Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of planning, heritage, building, and environmental legislation.
  • Quality Assurance: Experience with environmental, quality, and safety systems and procedures.
  • Licences:
  • Current “C” class driver’s licence.
  • Active Blue Card or ability to obtain prior to commencement.
