About the Role

Join Sunshine Coast Council as a Place Project Officer and play a key role in shaping vibrant, sustainable communities. In this dynamic role, you’ll plan, design, and coordinate the delivery of built infrastructure projects and placemaking initiatives that enhance urban spaces and activate places for accessibility, sustainability, and well-being. You’ll lead innovative projects from concept to delivery, provide expert technical advice, and manage design and engagement processes to create public spaces that connect people and enrich community life.

  • Deliver strategic and technical guidance on placemaking projects.
  • Lead multiple projects including precinct plans, master plans, and streetscape designs.
  • Manage design phases, budgets, schedules, and consultant engagement.
  • Lead community engagement through forums, workshops, and co-design initiatives.
  • Champion design excellence and sustainability in all deliverables.
  • Prepare compelling written and visual communications, including reports and presentations.
  • Build strong relationships with internal teams, government agencies, businesses, and community groups.

About you

You are someone who wants to make a positive impact in the community you love as we move toward a more sustainable future.

  • Degree in Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, Planning, or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years’ experience delivering placemaking or place-based design projects.
  • Strong conceptual and design development skills with sound knowledge of documentation and detailing.
  • Demonstrated experience in community and stakeholder engagement.
  • Working knowledge of planning, heritage, building and environmental legislation.
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and AutoCAD.
  • Current “C” class driver’s licence.
