About the Role
The Disaster Management team prioritises an all‑hazards, community‑centred approach to disaster management, focusing on preparedness, coordinated response, and long‑term resilience through education, partnerships, and recovery planning.
The Disaster Resilience Support Officer provides project support services for programs, initiatives, and projects. This includes supporting key projects and delivering customer‑focused services to internal and external stakeholders.
Key Duties
- Undertake administrative support for Sunshine Coast State Emergency Service (SES) Groups
- Assist with the development and delivery of disaster resilience building and disaster preparedness community engagement projects
- Drive and maintain administrative and project-based activities
- Contribute to the maintenance of Council’s disaster management systems, including Disaster Hub and Guardian Incident Management System
- Assisting in the facilitation with the delivery of council’s internal and external training programs.
- Establish and maintain productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective customer relationship management and enhanced customer service.
About you
You will have a Certification in Project Management, Business Administration, Local Government, or similar / equivalent relevant experience.
You will have strong time management, work prioritisation and organisation skills with demonstrated ability to work both independently, interdependently and under pressure to ensure work tasks are delivered on time and to a high standard.
You will demonstrate the ability to work well in emergency situations and high-pressure environment.
You will have a strong communication and customer service skills with demonstrated ability to prepare standard business correspondence and use initiative and sound judgement to guide customers and resolve problems often requiring tact, diplomacy and sensitivity.
Essential to your success is physical agility and the level of fitness, strength and dexterity to carry out labouring and frequent heavy lifting & bending. As such, appointment to this position is subject to completion of a pre-employment medical assessment.
