About the Branch
The Design & Placemaking Services Branch plays a key role in planning and delivering infrastructure solutions that support one of Australia’s fastest-growing regions. The team provides expert engineering and design services, manages outsourced design programs, and develops innovative solutions that enhance transport networks, community assets and long-term regional sustainability. Working within a collaborative and technically skilled environment, you'll contribute to projects that help shape the future of the Sunshine Coast.
About the Role
As a Design Engineer, you will support and manage the design development of infrastructure projects within Council’s Capital Works Program. Working closely with engineers, designers, stakeholders and external consultants, you will help deliver high-quality, cost-effective and sustainable engineering outcomes. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to projects that improve community infrastructure while developing your technical expertise, project management capability and professional engineering career.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and support the design development of infrastructure projects within Council's Capital Works Program.
- Prepare design reports, engineering documentation, specifications and project recommendations.
- Coordinate stakeholder engagement, design reviews and consultant activities to achieve successful project outcomes.
- Identify project risks and issues, implement mitigation strategies and provide technical engineering advice.
About You
You bring the technical foundation.
You hold tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or a related discipline and have experience delivering engineering, infrastructure or project-based outcomes within a complex environment.
You thrive on managing projects.
With strong project management, planning and financial management skills, you can coordinate multiple priorities, meet deadlines and deliver quality outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
You are a skilled communicator.
You build productive relationships with stakeholders at all levels and have proven skills in consultation, negotiation, problem solving and achieving positive outcomes.
You enjoy solving complex challenges.
You bring strong analytical and research capabilities, sound engineering judgement and a passion for developing innovative and practical solutions that deliver community value. For candidates at the senior level, experience working towards RPEQ registration will be highly regarded.
