About the Role

The Design & Placemaking Services Branch delivers high-quality design and design management services that support Council’s capital works and major projects. The Branch plays a critical role in shaping parks, open spaces, urban precincts and natural environments that enhance liveability across the region. Working at the intersection of design, community, environment and infrastructure, the Branch champions design excellence, innovation and collaboration to support one of Australia’s most sustainable regions.

As Coordinator Landscape Architectural Services, you will provide strategic leadership, technical oversight and program coordination for landscape architecture services across Council’s capital works portfolio. The team is currently undergoing a review and this role will play key role in the co-design of the outcome. The Coordinator will be leading a talented team of designers, you will guide complex projects from concept through delivery, ensuring exceptional design outcomes that reflect Sunshine Coast values, character and sustainability objectives. This role offers the opportunity to influence place-making outcomes at a regional scale while mentoring people and shaping best-practice design culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of high-quality landscape architecture and urban design outcomes
  • Provide strategic design direction aligned with Sunshine Coast Design principles
  • Manage programs of work, priorities, budgets and delivery timeframes
  • Maintain strong governance, business rules and compliance across projects
  • Oversee fit-for-purpose design documentation and QA processes
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary project interfaces across Council
  • Champion innovation, emerging technologies and continuous improvement
  • Lead community co-design with residents, Councillors and State agencies
  • Mentor, supervise and develop team capability and performance
  • Represent Council in regional and State design forums and partnerships
