About the Role
The Design and Placemaking Branch delivers engineering design, survey and design management services that support Council’s capital works and major projects. The Branch plays a vital role in shaping fit-for-purpose infrastructure that enhances liveability, sustainability and community outcomes across the Sunshine Coast. Working at the intersection of planning, design and delivery, the Branch collaborates closely with internal teams and external partners to achieve integrated, high-quality outcomes.
As Coordinator Engineering Design & Survey Services, you will lead a multidisciplinary engineering design and survey unit responsible for delivering high-quality civil and transport infrastructure designs. This senior leadership role provides technical governance, strategic direction and people leadership across a diverse portfolio of projects, ensuring designs are safe, compliant, innovative and aligned with Council priorities. It’s an exciting opportunity to influence how major infrastructure is planned and delivered across a dynamic and growing region.
- Lead a customer-focused engineering design and survey team delivering fit-for-purpose solutions
- Provide strategic, technical and governance oversight of civil infrastructure design programs
- Coordinate integrated design across investigations, survey, concept and detailed design phases
- Manage workflows, budgets and resources to achieve on-time, on-budget project delivery
About you
You hold a relevant tertiary qualification (degree) supported by substantial experience within the discipline. Postgraduate qualifications in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Project Management, or Business Management are highly desirable.
You are a respected engineering leader with a strong foundation in civil infrastructure design and a genuine commitment to delivering high‑quality outcomes that positively impact communities.
You bring extensive experience in leading multidisciplinary engineering teams, building capability, encouraging collaboration, and driving high performance.
You demonstrate sound technical judgement and strong governance expertise, with the ability to balance risk, quality, cost, sustainability, and outcomes across complex projects.
You are an accomplished communicator and relationship builder, confident engaging with executives, Councillors, consultants, and external stakeholders in a fast‑paced and evolving environment.
