About the Role
The Transport Assets and Operations Branch provide expert solutions and services that support the ongoing management of Council’s civil assets and infrastructure. With a strong focus on delivering practical outcomes for the community, the Branch develops innovative solutions across asset management, operations and infrastructure programs. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals while contributing to projects that help shape one of Australia’s most sustainable and liveable regions.
As a Cadet Engineer, you will gain valuable hands-on experience while studying towards your Civil Engineering degree. Working within the Infrastructure and Natural Assets Directorate, you will assist with engineering investigations, infrastructure planning, asset management initiatives and capital works projects. Through mentoring, training, networking and potential job rotations, you will develop practical skills and technical knowledge while making a meaningful contribution to the region’s transport infrastructure and future growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with engineering investigations and provide technical support for transport infrastructure projects and customer requests.
- Contribute to strategic, program and resource planning activities to support engineering outcomes and service delivery.
- Support the design and delivery of capital works projects, including preparation of designs, cost estimates and technical documentation.
- Assist in the development and improvement of asset management strategies, systems and sustainable engineering solutions
About you
- Studying Civil Engineering: you are currently completing, or working towards completion of, an Engineers Australia recognised Bachelor of Civil Engineering and are eager to apply your learning in a real-world environment.
- A Strong Problem Solver: you bring developing analytical, investigative and research skills, with the ability to think critically, identify solutions and contribute to engineering outcomes.
- An Effective Communicator: you have well-developed written and verbal communication skills and enjoy building positive relationships with customers, stakeholders and team members.
- Tech-Savvy and Organised: you are proficient in Microsoft Office applications, have exposure to AutoCAD or similar software, and can manage competing priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
