About the Role

The Digital & Information Services branch drives agile, transformative technology solutions, empowering Council to lead in delivering innovative, sustainable services to our community.

Our Infrastructure team plays a key role in the design, implementation, and optimisation of Council’s Data Centre Services and Cloud Infrastructure. You’ll help ensure high performance, availability, and cost-effectiveness across platforms including Windows Server, Linux, VMware, and Azure.

Key duties:

  • Design and implement scalable Data Centre and Cloud solutions
  • Configure and monitor Windows, Linux, and VMware platforms
  • Automate infrastructure tasks using Infrastructure as Code
  • Resolve complex technical issues and support system security
  • Ensure business continuity through disaster recovery planning

This position is based at Sunshine Coast City Hall in the heart of the Maroochydore CBD – a state-of-the-art, sustainable building designed for innovation and collaboration.

About you**

As a seasoned systems engineering professional, you bring a strong foundation in Information Technology, supported by a relevant degree and industry certifications or extensive hands-on experience. Your technical expertise spans advanced administration and support of Windows Server environments, VMware virtualisation, and Veeam backup solutions—making you a valuable asset in managing complex infrastructure.

You have a proven track record in disaster recovery planning and virtual infrastructure deployments, ensuring business continuity and system resilience. Your ability to troubleshoot, analyse, and resolve technical issues is matched by your excellent communication and time management skills, enabling you to work effectively across teams and projects.

In addition to your technical capabilities, you are ready to respond to critical incidents as needed. Your flexibility and commitment to service excellence are demonstrated through your willingness to participate in on-call rosters and respond to outages, ensuring the reliability and performance of Council’s IT systems.
