About the Role

The Digital & Information Services branch delivers agile and transformative technology solutions that enable Council to lead in innovation and sustainability. The ICT Infrastructure team plays a critical role in maintaining and evolving Council’s core systems and platforms.

As a Senior Systems Engineer, you’ll lead the design and optimisation of Council’s Data Centre Services and Cloud Infrastructure. This senior technical role requires strategic thinking, technical expertise, and the ability to guide and mentor others to deliver high-performing, resilient systems.

  • Lead and mentor technical staff to deliver scalable infrastructure solutions
  • Drive automation using Infrastructure as Code across key platforms
  • Oversee and optimise Windows, VMWare, NSX, Active Directory and Azure
  • Champion resilience through disaster recovery and business continuity planning

This position is based in the Sunshine Coast City Hall, in the heart of Maroochydore CBD. This state of the art and sustainable building is designed to achieve an innovative and collaborative workspace.

About you

You’re a senior IT professional with advanced expertise in infrastructure design, cloud platforms, and data centre operations. You bring hands-on experience with Windows Server, VMWare, NSX, Active Directory, Azure, and backup systems like Veeam.

Your leadership style is collaborative and empowering. You mentor team members, share technical knowledge, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation through automation and Infrastructure as Code.

You’re confident navigating complex challenges, influencing outcomes, and driving resilient, high-performing solutions that support Council’s strategic goals and digital transformation.
