About the Role

The Environment and Sustainability Policy Branch is responsible for advice, advocacy and preparation of strategic policy and planning documents to guide the sustainable future of the natural environment and liveability of the Sunshine Coast.

The Senior Social Infrastructure Planner leads the development, implementation and review of strategic social policy including social infrastructure network planning. The role provides specialist strategic advice and advocacy on social policy issues and works as part of a highly effective and motivated multidisciplinary team. Key responsibilities of the role include:

Level 6

  • Lead and contribute to the development, implementation and review of council’s strategic social infrastructure policy and long-term network planning.
  • Provide specialist strategic social planning and social infrastructure policy and network planning advice to organisational and external stakeholders.
  • Lead and contribute to the planning for social infrastructure projects, including procuring and coordinating external consultants and establishing and managing internal project teams.
  • Maintain a strong evidence base for social policy development and social infrastructure network and project planning based on research, available data, stakeholder engagement and analysis.

Level 7

In addition to the above:

  • Demonstrate significant leadership and an ability to manage complex matters, operating highly independently with limited guidance and high levels of professional initiative.
  • May be required to provide supervision to other employees.

About you

You will be exposed to a depth of knowledge and opportunities to develop leadership and technical skills and a chance to grow with Council. But mostly, you want your work to make a visible impact in the community you love.

Level 6

  • Formal relevant qualification (Degree) and relevant experience and demonstrated record of achievements in social policy development and strategic long term social infrastructure network planning.
  • Strong time management and organisation skills to manage significant or multiple projects and complex cases, manage multiple competing priorities, a variety of stakeholder expectations and influencing and achieving preferred business outcomes.
  • Demonstrated analytical and strategic thinking skills and ability to think logically, creatively and laterally within a multi-disciplinary environment.

Level 7

In addition to the above:

  • Demonstrated extensive experience and a record of achievements in social policy development and strategic long term social infrastructure network planning within a government context, directly applicable to the responsibilities of the role.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage planning for new social infrastructure projects.
