About the Role

As a Senior Property Officer, you will lead and manage Council’s land and property portfolio, ensuring effective management of Council’s landholdings and  tenure arrangements for a diverse range of stakeholders. This role blends strategic oversight with hands-on negotiation and compliance responsibilities.

Key duties:

  • Lead and mentor Property Officers to achieve team goals.
  • Provide expert advice on land and compliance matters over Council owned and managed land assets as well as private landholdings.
  • Effectively manage land transactions including easements, encroachments, land access, and road closure proposals.
  • Develop strategies to optimise the use of Council’s land to reduce costs and explore revenue generating opportunities.
  • Manage leasing and tenure arrangements across diverse portfolios.
  • Negotiate tenancy agreements and resolve complex property issues.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on property projects.
  • Ensure adherence to legislation, policies, and best practice standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement in property and land management processes.

About you

You are an experienced property and land management professional with:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and extensive experience in property and land management.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and mentor.
  • Proven negotiation and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
  • Sound knowledge of legislation and compliance requirements.
  • High-level analytical, financial, and project management skills.
