About the Role
The Finance Branch is responsible for the financial management and governance, ensuring effective business management and legislative compliance.
The Senior Management Accountant is responsible for the coordination of accounting and business analysis, improvement and support to Directorate, Branch, Team Management and the Financial Services Coordinator in accordance with organisational timeframes and requirements.
As a Senior Management Accountant, key duties include but are not limited to:
- Coordination of accounting and business analysis, improvement and support to Directorate, Branch, Team Management and the Financial Services Coordinator in accordance with organisational timeframes and requirements.
- Submission of financial reports on activities as they impact on the Corporate Plan and Council’s financial reporting processes, including the production, submission and investigation of monthly financial performance reports.
- Together with the Financial Services Coordinator, the timely co-ordination and delivery of the organisation’s annual budget and budget reviews. This will include submissions to Council and the Executive Leadership Team (ELT).
This position is based at Sunshine Coast City Hall, in the heart of Maroochydore CBD. This state of the art and sustainable building is designed to achieve an innovative and collaborative workspace.
About you
As a requirement of this role you will possess tertiary degree qualifications in a relevant discipline, preferably supported by further professional development.
You will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Management Accountant role in a large organisation and demonstrated experience in an accounting position producing financial reports in accordance with the relevant accounting standards, performing financial analysis and providing high level advice to management.
You will have demonstrated proficiency in computer system applications, including integrated financial systems, databases, spreadsheets and personal application software.
You will have highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate persuasively, engage in active listening, consult with a wide range of people at all levels of the Council, fostering collaboration and cooperation.
