About the Role

Shape the Sunshine Coast’s future by leading complex engineering survey projects that deliver vital civil infrastructure for a growing, sustainable region. You’ll provide expert survey and design services across Council, supporting capital works and key engineering initiatives.

From managing consultant‑led survey projects to producing high‑quality construction and as‑constructed documentation, this role offers the chance to apply your technical expertise, influence outcomes, and support best‑practice survey data and plan management.

  • Lead and deliver civil engineering survey projects, managing scope, budget and timeframes
  • Coordinate internal teams, consultants and stakeholder communications
  • Manage procurement and oversight of consultant survey and design services
  • Ensure survey works meet relevant standards, codes, technical criteria and best‑practice workflows
  • Provide expert technical advice and resolve complex surveying issues
  • Mentor and develop junior staff and Engineering Survey Cadets
  • Support continuous improvement, quality assurance and backfill the Survey Supervisor as required

About you

You’re a highly capable engineering surveyor with proven experience delivering municipal civil projects in a complex environment. A natural mentor and problem‑solver, you combine strong technical expertise with sound judgement, a collaborative mindset and a commitment to quality, safety and continuous improvement.

  • Tertiary qualifications in surveying or a related discipline and/or significant experience in municipal surveying
  • Proven experience managing civil survey projects across roads, drainage, water and sewerage assets
  • Demonstrated leadership capability, with the ability to guide others and manage competing priorities
  • Strong technical skills across civil survey systems, including 12D, AutoCAD, GPS, total stations and drone data processing
  • High‑level knowledge of survey techniques, construction processes and quality assurance requirements
  • Well‑developed analytical, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Current Queensland Class ‘C’ driver licence
  • Physical capability to undertake field‑based survey work
  • Ability to meet pre‑employment medical assessment requirements
