About the Role

The Development Services Branch plays a vital role in enabling sustainable growth across the Sunshine Coast by partnering with industry and the community to deliver efficient, customer-focused development services. Covering planning, engineering, environment, building and plumbing, the branch is at the forefront of shaping a region recognised globally for its commitment to sustainability, liveability, and balanced development.

As a Plumbing Inspector, you will deliver high-quality inspection, assessment and advisory services to ensure plumbing and drainage systems meet legislative and regulatory requirements. This role is critical to maintaining public health, protecting environmental values, and supporting safe, compliant development. You’ll work across a wide range of applications and stakeholders, making every day varied, impactful, and professionally rewarding.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess hydraulic designs, applications, and conduct compliance inspections
  • Provide technical advice to internal teams, contractors and stakeholders
  • Investigate plumbing and drainage compliance issues and statutory breaches
  • Prepare approvals, reports, records and documentation to support decisions

This position is based at  Sunshine Coast City Hall, in the heart of Maroochydore CBD. This state of the art and sustainable building is designed to achieve an innovative and collaborative workspace.

About you

  • You hold a current plumbing and drainage licence and bring extensive industry experience, with strong technical knowledge across plumbing systems and standards.
  • You confidently interpret and apply relevant legislation, codes, and standards to ensure compliance and high-quality outcomes in all aspects of your work.
  • You build positive relationships with stakeholders at all levels, delivering clear advice with professionalism, sound judgement, and a customer-focused approach.
  • You thrive working both independently and within a team, contributing to continuous improvement and maintaining a high standard of service delivery.
