About the Role

The People & Culture Branch partners with the business to inspire an environment for great leadership and people capability to build on our outstanding organisation for today and the future.

The Payroll team plays a vital role in supporting Council’s workforce by ensuring seamless, compliant, and people-focused payroll operations. We’re a collaborative, detail-driven team that supports the organisation through exceptional service.

As a Payroll Officer, you will:

  • Deliver timely, accurate payroll in line with legislation and deadlines
  • Maintain data integrity through checks, reporting, and reconciliations
  • Provide expert advice on payroll matters to staff across Council
  • Drive service excellence and support continuous improvement

This position is based at  Sunshine Coast City Hall, in the heart of Maroochydore CBD. This state of the art and sustainable building is designed to achieve an innovative and collaborative workspace.

About you

You’re a payroll professional with a keen eye for detail and a solid foundation in payroll operations, backed by a Certificate IV or equivalent experience. You understand the ins and outs of payroll legislation, tax, and superannuation, and you’re confident navigating complex requirements.

You bring precision and efficiency to everything you do. Whether juggling deadlines or solving payroll queries, your time management and customer service skills ensure smooth, reliable outcomes.

Tech-savvy and adaptable, you’re confident using payroll systems and Excel. Experience with SAP, SuccessFactors, or Dayforce is a bonus—and a great fit for our evolving digital environment.

Criminal History Check Required

Appointment to this position is subject to the satisfactory completion of a Criminal History Check.
