About the Role

Our People and Culture Branch is the heart of organisational excellence at Sunshine Coast Council. As a Payroll Analyst, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement across payroll operations. This is a dynamic opportunity to combine analytical expertise with problem-solving skills, working on projects that enhance efficiency and deliver meaningful insights to the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Audit and analyse payroll data to identify trends, anomalies, and improvement opportunities
  • Develop and apply structured methodologies for reviewing payroll transactions
  • Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Prepare and present reports with actionable insights and recommendations
  • Collaborate with HR, Finance, Audit, and IT teams to ensure data integrity and process alignment

This position is based at  Sunshine Coast City Hall, in the heart of Maroochydore CBD. This state of the art and sustainable building is designed to achieve an innovative and collaborative workspace.

About you

You thrive on turning complex data into clear, actionable insights. Your strong analytical skills and eye for detail ensure accuracy and compliance in every task.

You have experience in payroll projects or compliance reviews and have knowledge working with legislation, policies and procedures.

Managing multiple priorities is second nature to you. You bring structure, planning, and coordination to deliver tasks on time and with impact.

You work seamlessly across teams, building strong relationships while maintaining discretion and professionalism with sensitive information.

 
You’re confident with business technologies and reporting systems, and you’re always looking for smarter ways to improve processes and outcomes.

Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check Required

Appointment to this position is subject to the satisfactory completion of a Criminal History Check.
