About the Role

The Parks & Gardens Branch plays a vital role in caring for, maintaining and enhancing the Sunshine Coast’s extensive public open space and recreational network. The team delivers safe, high‑quality, environmentally responsible spaces for the community to enjoy.

As a Parks Infrastructure - Contracts Support Officer, you will:

  • Support delivery of asset maintenance contract solutions for park infrastructure.
  • Participate in contract management systems to achieve safe, compliant recreational assets.
  • Administer contractor auditing protocols to ensure quality, safety and contract compliance.
  • Engage in contractor meetings in line with procurement and contract requirements.
  • Support contractor training and undertake weekly audits and Confirm data entry.
  • Assist with contract administration for maintenance of parks infrastructure and equipment.
  • Support alignment of operational and capital works program outcomes.
  • Provide strong customer service, ensuring timely responses and promoting service excellence.
  • Monitor internal notifications and actions to support timely and safe issue management.
  • Apply proactive problem‑solving to address issues in line with policies and procedures.

About you

The successful candidate will have

  • Knowledge and demonstrated experience in one of the following categories: contract management, asset maintenance & management, project delivery, landscape construction, auditing processes or a related discipline for recreational infrastructure located within parks and coastal environments.
  • Strong communication and computer skills including applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Council’s software applications, such as Confirm.
  • Qualifications in relevant trade certificates and / or relevant experience, such as demonstrated experience in carpentry / parks infrastructure maintenance / construction.
  • Strong interpersonal, time management, negotiation & problem-solving skills.  Proven ability to use initiative & work collaboratively with stakeholders to identify & implement timely & effective outcomes.
  • Ability to maintain a flexible approach to new and challenging circumstances and a demonstrated willingness to acquire new skills and achieve high work quality and productivity.
  • Current “Blue Card” to work with children.
  • Current “White Card” construction induction card.
  • Current driver’s “C” Class licence.
  • Ability to undertake the physical requirements of the position.

Desirable requirements

You will also be required to have:

  • Qualification in relevant trade certificates and / or relevant demonstrated experience in carpentry / parks infrastructure maintenance / construction.
  • Strong working knowledge of current Australian Standards and training relevant to the requirements of open space asset contract maintenance and management (e.g. Level 3 Comprehensive Playground Safety Inspector – Certified Playground Safety Inspector Australia).
  • Certificate in contract, project and/or asset management.
  • Understanding of the integration between Council’s capital works program and infrastructure maintenance processes.
  • Understanding of the role of the Parks & Gardens Branch and of the other Groups within Council and their services and functions.
  • First Aid training.
