About the Role

The Parks and Gardens branch is responsible for the care, management, and operation of a comprehensive network of public open space and recreational areas which have been established for active and passive recreation for the community and the preservation of the natural features of landscape and environment along the Sunshine Coast, largely within the urban environment.

As a Parks Cleaner/Operator your role is to perform a broad range of tasks, requiring development of industry skills, with such tasks to be performed under general supervision by the Parks Supervisor.

You will carry out general labouring tasks, and more specialised tasks are required of Parks Cleaners/Operators acting under general supervision.

You will assist in the cleaning of public conveniences, BBQ’s, street-cleaning, associated Parks Infrastructure and beach litter collection, roadside litter & debris removal and the cleaning of parks and other Council assets.

You will be responsible for the correct care, maintenance and operation of all chemicals, plant, machinery, and tools placed under the employee’s control, and be responsible for maintaining equipment used in a safe, clean and serviceable condition.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have the ability to work within the span of hours is between 3:00am and 6:00pm, with all hours worked outside of 6:00am to 6:00pm currently paid at award penalty rates.

As a requirement for this role, you will possess a current “C” Class drivers’ licence and have immunisation against Hepatitis A & B and Tetanus.

Pre-Employment Medical Required

Essential to your success is physical agility and the level of fitness, strength, and dexterity to carry out labouring and frequent heavy lifting & bending. As such, appointment to this position is subject to completion of a pre-employment medical assessment.
