About the Role
The Environment and Sustainability Policy Branch is responsible for advice, advocacy and preparation and implementation of long-term strategic policy and planning to guide the sustainable future of the natural environment and liveability of the Sunshine Coast and ensuring our community and future generations has improved access and resilience to our changing environment.
In this role, you will lead and manage provision of detailed land use planning data management framework and analysis of digital spatial data and mapping products and advice in a timely, repeatable and cost-effective manner. Provide expert technical solutions, support and advice to internal and external customers and stakeholders.
Key duties:
- Lead the provision of expert advice, high quality and timely spatial data products and services responding to the Directorate’s requests and project management systems.
- Take a lead role in the ongoing development of data management systems and associated processes for the collection, recording and reporting of spatial related information, using GIS and remote sensing software and systems for the specific networks.
- Manage advanced manipulation and analysis of complex data requests within the geographical information system and other related applications to deliver successful business outcomes.
- Initiate and coordinate the high-level research and recommend innovative methods to complex technological advances in geographic information systems.
- Delivery of multiple advanced analytics projects, with a high degree of accuracy.
- Investigate complex spatial data non-conformities and develop governance systems and recommend resolution strategies.
This position is based at Sunshine Coast City Hall, in the heart of Maroochydore CBD. This state of the art and sustainable building is designed to achieve an innovative and collaborative workspace.
About you
As a professional in geospatial information management, you bring proven capability required for this role. You have a strong technical foundation supported by the following:
You hold a Bachelor degree in Geographic Information Systems or other relevant tertiary qualification and/or significant relevant experience, expertise and competency relevant to the position.
You also bring at least 5 years demonstrated experience in the field of Geospatial Information Management.
Your background includes a track record of success in Geographic Information Systems in planning development, environment (including climate change), open space/social planning or Transport fields and the ongoing development of data management systems.
In addition, you are known for your demonstrated ability to provide professional, timely and responsive GIS consultative services to a variety of clients and specialist disciplines often managing competing priorities and client expectations, ensuring reliable and high‑quality technical support.
