About the Role
The Sunshine Coast is one of Australia’s most desirable regional tourism destinations, renowned for its natural beauty, active lifestyle and vibrant communities. As a co-host of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic & Paralympic Games, the Sunshine Coast is well positioned to continue to grow its reputation as a major event destination.
We are seeking a strategic and driven major events professional to help us deliver Council’s ‘Major Events Strategy’. This role is central to identifying, attracting and servicing major events staged on the Sunshine Coast, with the goal of maximising economic, promotional, and social benefits for our destination and community.
You will play a vital role in shaping the region’s major event landscape, working closely with stakeholders to ensure alignment with broader strategic goals and community values.
As someone who throughout your career has gained valuable insight, knowledge and experience within the tourism and event industries, you will be ready to hit the ground running to manage a large portfolio of events.
A key attribute in this role will be your ability to manage all stages of the event sponsorship lifecycle for new and existing events from initial discussions through to contracting, leveraging, execution and acquittal. You will work as part of the Tourism and Major Events team to identify new event opportunities for the region and to assist in the development and implementation of projects designed to increase the region’s recognition as a premier destination for Major Events.
About you
You will be a great team player, who is also capable of autonomously managing workloads, working within time-sensitive environments, and thinking strategically to achieve best practice outcomes.
As a requirement of this role, you will have, bachelor’s degree qualifications in Events Management or relevant field experience in the events industry.
Substantial knowledge and experience in the area of event industry, coupled with experience in event marketing and strategic event leveraging.
You will hold a current “C” Class drivers licence and have the availability to undertake occasional work outside normal hours.
