About the Role
We are recruiting two (2) permanent part time Library Officer positions.
The Arts, Heritage and Libraries Branch enrich the lives of residents and visitors through welcoming libraries, engaging programs and access to knowledge, culture and connection. The Branch plays a vital role in strengthening community wellbeing by delivering inclusive, contemporary spaces that encourage learning, creativity and participation across all ages.
As a Library Officer, you will be a key frontline representative of Sunshine Coast Libraries, delivering exceptional customer service and supporting a wide range of programs and services. This hands‑on role is central to creating positive customer experiences, supporting lifelong learning, and ensuring libraries remain vibrant, accessible and community‑focused places to visit, learn and connect.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver outstanding customer service, assisting customers with enquiries, resources and technology
- Promote and deliver engaging library programs, events, outreach and learning activities
- Perform essential library operations including loans, returns, shelving and collection maintenance
- Support the presentation of library spaces, ensuring they are welcoming, modern and well organised
- Ability to work regular weekends (under an any 5 in 7 arrangement) as rostered, including early morning and evening work.
About you
- You hold a Certificate III in Library and Information Services or have relevant experience that demonstrates your capability in library operations and customer support.
- You’re passionate about helping people and take pride in delivering friendly, professional customer service in a community‑focused environment. You communicate confidently with customers of all ages and backgrounds.
- You bring experience or qualifications in library or information services and enjoy supporting programs that promote literacy, digital skills and lifelong learning.
- You’re comfortable using technology and enjoy learning new systems, with the confidence and patience to support others in accessing digital and online resources.
- You thrive in a collaborative team environment, take initiative in your work, and enjoy the variety that comes with delivering events, programs and day‑to‑day library services.
Pre-Employment Medical Required
Essential to your success is physical agility and the level of fitness, strength and dexterity to carry out labouring and frequent heavy lifting & bending. As such, appointment to this position is subject to completion of a pre-employment medical assessment.
