About the Role
The Legal Services deliver professional legal advice and services that support Council’s strategic and operational objectives.
As a Legal Administrator you will:
- Prepare and coordinate legal documentation, including Court documents, correspondence, appeal briefing materials, and briefs for barristers and expert witnesses, as well as liaising with legal professionals and Court officers.
- Research and analyse information from Council systems and files to source key documents for briefs, discovery, position papers, briefing notes, and other legal or project materials.
- Deliver high‑level administrative and system support across the branch, including managing legal assistance requests, records and file management, diary and meeting coordination, precedent maintenance, and timely responses to enquiries.
- Identify and implement improvements in office workflows, processes, and systems to enhance efficiency and service delivery.
- Maintain compliance and uphold Council standards, including records management, WHS obligations, confidentiality, integrity, and quality customer service as part of the Legal Services support team.
This position is based at Sunshine Coast City Hall, in the heart of Maroochydore CBD. This state of the art and sustainable building is designed to achieve an innovative and collaborative workspace.
About you
The successful candidate will have:
- Relevant qualifications and/or experience, such as a Certificate III in Business Administration, Local Government, or equivalent practical experience.
- Proven administrative experience in a legal environment, including knowledge of legal office protocols, standard legal documentation, Court processes, and legal research resources.
- Experience preparing Court documents, or the ability to quickly develop this capability.
- Ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of Council operations, including Development Application/Approval processes, conveyancing requirements, and relevant policies and systems.
- Strong digital capability, with proficiency in Microsoft Office, legal software systems, and the ability to learn new applications quickly.
- Current C‑Class driver licence, with the ability to travel to other Council locations when required.
- Compliance with any Queensland Government public health vaccination directives relevant to the role.
