About the Role

Council’s Design & Placemaking Branch are seeking an Engineering Surveyor to provide Survey Services to clients across Council by providing survey and design of engineering and capital projects and prepare constructed plans and documentation for engineering projects.

As an Engineering Surveyor, your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Arrange and perform engineering surveys required for planning, design, construction and maintenance activities in accordance with IPWEA standards and industry best practice.
  • Ensure the survey control and set out of works meet the job requirements and are to specified accuracies. Perform survey computing, data collection, processing and presentation and alignment design computing according to IPWEA’s practices, relevant council procedures and standards.
  • Assist with public enquiries and/or complaints of a complex nature, in relation to survey activties as required.
  • The successful candidate will undertake a range of surveying activites utilising CAD software applications and operate specialised surveying instruments including GPS/GNSS, Total Station, Drone and Automatic Level.

Note: This position is banded as a Level 4/5. The successful candidate can potentially progress to level 5 after successfully completing 2 years' service as a graduate.

About you

You will have tertiary qualifications such as a Associate Diploma in the relevant discipline from a recognised University or be graduating.

You possess an awareness in a range of computer applications including, but not limited to, Computer Aided Design; Total Station Survey operations; Geographic Positioning Systems (GPS); Drone survey processing; Civil Engineering survey programs; 12D; AutoCAD; Agisoft and the Microsoftâ Office suite of applications.

You are a competent verbal and written communicator, you will have proven ability to motivate others, manage your own time and direct the activities of others, recognise and resolve problems.  Work as a positive and effective team member.

Your interest and ability to learn other computer applications is pivotal to this position.

Pre-Employment Medical Required

Essential to your success is physical agility and the level of fitness, strength and dexterity to carry out labouring and frequent heavy lifting & bending. As such, appointment to this position is subject to completion of a pre-employment medical assessment.
