About the Role
As a Development Officer / Engineer, you will provide expert construction advice to the development industry to achieve sustainable development across the Sunshine Coast. Working closely with industry stakeholders, you’ll deliver timely, customer-focused construction advice, and advocacy in engineering and construction management.

- Deliver expert engineering advice to enable delivery of projects in compliance with development approvals.
- Investigate and resolve issues in stormwater, flooding, traffic, and earthworks in the field.
- Attend pre-start meetings, inspections, and audits to guarantee standards are met.
- Negotiate with developers, consultants, and stakeholders to achieve sustainable outcomes.
- Identify risks and implement corrective measures to protect Council’s interests.
- Collaborate with teams to streamline development assessment and asset handover.
About you
You’re an experienced engineering professional who thrives on delivering sustainable solutions. You bring:
- A recognised qualification in engineering, environmental engineering, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Strong knowledge of legislation, planning schemes, and codes, including the Planning Act 2016, Australian Standards andAustroads.
- Expertise in project management, technical analysis, and sound engineering practices.
- A commitment to ecologically sustainable development.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
- Business acumen and proficiency with modern technologies and tools.
- A current C-class driver’s licence.
