About the Role

The Development Services Branch sits within the Sustainable Growth and Planning Department and plays a critical role in enabling sustainable development across the region. The team works closely with industry, stakeholders and the community to deliver timely, customer-focused development assessment, engineering advice and advocacy. With a strong emphasis on collaboration, innovation and sustainability, the Branch contributes to shaping one of Australia’s fastest growing and most liveable regions

As a Development Engineer Construction, you will provide high-level technical supervision of developer-delivered construction activities, ensuring infrastructure is delivered to Council standards. This role is central to achieving sustainable growth outcomes by influencing construction and handover of developer-delivered assets. You’ll work across diverse projects, engage with key stakeholders and contribute to delivering infrastructure that supports thriving communities

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess engineering, environmental and infrastructure impacts of development construction activities
  • Conduct site inspections, audits and testing of civil works
  • Consult and negotiate with stakeholders, including developers and consultants

This position is based at  Sunshine Coast City Hall, in the heart of Maroochydore CBD. This state of the art and sustainable building is designed to achieve an innovative and collaborative workspace.

About you

  • You are a qualified engineering professional (or have equivalent experience) with strong knowledge of civil construction and development processes.
  • You bring a solid understanding of legislation, planning schemes, construction standards and sustainable engineering practices, enabling you to deliver compliant and practical solutions.
  • You are a confident communicator who can engage, influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels, from technical teams to the broader community.
  • You are analytically minded with strong project and data interpretation skills, and can prepare clear, professional reports and recommendations that drive outcomes.
