About the Role
Council’s Parks & Gardens Branch is responsible for the care, management and operation of a comprehensive network of public open space and recreational areas which have been established for active and passive recreation for the community and the preservation of the natural features of landscape and environment along the Sunshine Coast, largely within the urban environment.
As a Parks Infrastructure Maintenance Contracts Supervisor, you will:
- Lead and support the delivery of high‑quality parks asset maintenance contracts, guiding the Parks Infrastructure Maintenance team and key leaders.
- Manage contracts effectively to drive continuous improvement across the parks and open space infrastructure network.
- Develop, implement and monitor maintenance contract systems, processes and auditing protocols to ensure safety, durability, compliance and WHS obligations.
- Coordinate contractor engagement—including meetings, communication and performance monitoring—to maintain strong relationships and contract compliance.
- Maintain accurate Confirm data through oversight, training, and regular auditing to ensure high data integrity.
- Deliver proactive and reactive maintenance programs and oversee contract management programs aligned with agreed service levels.
- Produce and maintain reports, dashboards and KPIs to support informed decision‑making and efficient service delivery.
- Support the integration of capital works with operational maintenance, ensuring smooth handover and establishment of maintenance contracts.
- Provide excellent customer service, stakeholder engagement and collaborative problem‑solving to achieve positive parks outcomes.
- Uphold WHS practices, legislative compliance, record‑keeping standards, Council values and undertake additional projects or duties within the role’s scope.
About you
The successful candidate will have:
- Relevant qualifications and experience in contract management, recreational asset maintenance, local government, project delivery, landscape construction, parks planning, landscape architecture, recreation planning, or a related discipline.
- Strong knowledge of asset maintenance management, including hands‑on experience maintaining parks, recreation infrastructure and coastal environment assets.
- High-level communication and digital skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and council systems such as Confirm, CiA/T1 Finance & Property, and Open Windows.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, time‑management and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to use initiative and collaborate effectively to achieve timely outcomes.
- Trade qualifications or relevant hands-on experience in carpentry, parks infrastructure maintenance or construction.
- Sound knowledge of Australian Standards, including qualifications such as Level 3 Comprehensive Playground Safety Inspector (Certified Playground Safety Inspector Australia), and other training relevant to open space asset management.
- Adaptive and flexible approach, with a demonstrated willingness to learn, upskill and maintain high levels of work quality and productivity.
- Mandatory certifications and licences, including:
- Current Blue Card (Working with Children)
- Current White Card (Construction Induction)
- Current C Class driver's licence
- Physical capability to perform the duties required in the role.
Desirable requirements
You will be required to have:
- Solid working knowledge of current Australian Standards and the qualifications and training required for effective open space asset maintenance and management.
- Strong understanding of how capital works programs integrate with ongoing infrastructure maintenance, ensuring smooth transitions from project delivery to long‑term care.
- Awareness of the roles, functions and services of the Parks & Gardens Branch and other Council groups, and how they collaborate to deliver community outcomes.
- Current First Aid training, supporting safe work practices and emergency readiness.
