Council’s Transport Network Operations branch are responsible for road and infrastructure assets on the Sunshine Coast.

We are seeking an expert in the field of civil construction to contribute towards delivery of Council’s civil assets.  With population growth set to hit 500,000 in the next 15 years, the delivery of safe and high quality constructed civil assets is imperative.

As the successful candidate you will be required to coordinate, manage and deliver capital works through the engagement of both internal and external service providers.  This will include the coordination of capital works from design hand over to completion, whilst also providing comprehensive forward planning and project management services to project clients and customers. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading construction teams to deliver projects that are cost-effective, safe and high-quality.
  • Prepare and review construction programs for the timely delivery of civil construction works.
  • Liaise with the Supervisors and Field Leaders to ensure the efficient allocation of plant and labour resources for projects.
  • Demonstrate leadership in terms of employee development, workplace health and safety, risk management, continuous improvement and quality systems
  • Undertake audits throughout the projects including safety, quality and environment.
  • Produce 3WLAH (Three-Week Lookahead) schedules.
  • Cost tracking and management of invoices/subcontractor progress claims.
  • Prepare and submit End of Month (EOM) reports
  • Oversee QA/QC processes, including RFI, NCR, ITP, etc.
  • Maintain and update project registers.
  • Conduct toolbox talks, pre-start meetings, and site inductions.
  • Perform regular site inspections to ensure quality, safety and environmental requirements.
  • Review and assess SWMS.
  • Prepare project-specific management plans.
  • Manage purchase orders, plant and material bookings.

About you

As the successful candidate you hold a tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering (or a related discipline), complemented by over 2 years of post-graduate site experience.

You will have relevant experience and knowledge in the delivery of civil infrastructure and maintenance works, with demonstrated ability to lead work crews and contractors and motivate a strong performance and safety conscious culture.

As a professional engineer you will have proven ability to manage construction projects and programs using well-developed innovative problem-solving skills

You will have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of relevant WH&S and Environmental legislation, Advisory Standards and Industry Codes of Practice, Quality Systems along with risk management, assessment and control strategies and techniques
