About the Role

The Transport Network Operations branch provide high level maintenance, construction and asset management services for all road and related infrastructure assets (pavements, bridges, drainage, pathways and street furniture). 

Join our Civil Asset Management team and play a key role in maintaining and constructing essential infrastructure across the Sunshine Coast. This hands-on role involves a variety of civil maintenance tasks including concreting, kerb and channelling, stormwater drainage, and more.

Key duties:

  • Perform a range of hands-on civil construction and maintenance activities
  • Comply with all relevant workplace health, safety, and environmental legislation, including the Workplace Health and Safety Act and the Environmental Protection Act
  • Follow Council-issued work procedures and safety practices to ensure a safe and compliant work environment
  • Identify and report hazards, unsafe conditions, or incidents—including injuries, near misses, or environmental damage—promptly and accurately
  • Operate and maintain machinery and equipment in accordance with manufacturer guidelines.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and safety-conscious team culture

About you

As a dedicated field worker, you’ll bring:

  • A current “C” class driver’s licence
  • A General Safety Induction (Construction Industry) – Blue Card
  • Physical fitness and agility for manual labour
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • A commitment to safety and continuous improvement

Desirable qualifications:

  • Medium Rigid (MR) driver’s licence
  • Traffic Controller certification
  • Experience with civil construction plant and equipment

Pre-Employment Medical Required

Essential to your success is physical agility and the level of fitness, strength and dexterity to carry out labouring and frequent heavy lifting & bending. As such, appointment to this position is subject to completion of a pre-employment medical assessment.
