About the Role

Our Finance Branch at Sunshine Coast Council is responsible for the financial management and governance, ensuring effective business management and legislative compliance.

We are looking for multiple candidates who are a great team fit and will contribute positively to Council’s asset accounting function with the timely and accurate recognition of assets, and the transactions throughout their lifecycle.   

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering timely and accurate financial recognition of Council’s constructed and purchased assets through analysing project transactions and costs and preparing supporting documentation (asset capitalisation), in line with key performance indicators.
  • Contributing to the maintenance and review of assets under construction information for financial reporting and forecasting purposes
  • Communicating with asset managers, project officers, and asset information officers to compile information and data necessary to complete the financial transactions required.
  • Proactively maintain accurate asset data in asset registers and supporting documentation.

About you
 

In this position you will be dealing with asset records and information from a wide range of projects from across Council’s business areas.  This involves looking at engineering and project documentation and using mapping software!

  • You will possess relevant qualification (or working towards) and/or previous experience relevant to the key responsibilities, ideally in an accounting, business, finance or other relevant field.
  • Pivotal to this position is your professional communication and interpersonal skills to foster collaboration and cooperation with a range of stakeholders. 
  • You will have the ability to quickly learn how to use the relevant business applications such as the financial and non-financial asset registers, mapping software, etc and have experience in the Microsoft office suite (particularly Excel).
