About the Role

Council’s Parks and Gardens Branch require two Arborist Technicians to undertake all aspects of tree work for both internal and external clients.
You will be required to assist the Arboricultural Services Leader as a member of the Arboricultural Services Team who are responsible for the care, management and operation of public open space, and recreational areas.
This role holds a large safety focus with operation of various plant, machinery and tools required. The incumbent will have a passion for environmental issues in our diverse coastal and hinterland environment and undertake duties with this concern upheld.
A primary focus of the role will entail safe operation of a wood chipper and truck as well as removal and disposal of debris and greenwaste.
You will be required to support and actively participate in a team approach to learning and development through upgrading technical knowledge and ongoing training on policies, practices and procedures including legislative requirements. On a daily basis you will take part in coordinating maintenance records including run sheets, costing details and timesheets.

About you

The successful candidate will be experienced in an arboricultural role ideally within a local government environment.
Your comprehensive knowledge & understanding of materials, plant & equipment used in street and neighbour park tree maintenance is essential to success.
You are well versed in communicating verbally and in writing including working cooperatively with internal and external customers on site. Pivotal this position is managing your time effectively.
This includes setting and meeting priorities, deadlines and self-organising workloads. Various qualifications, licences and tickets are required for this position. Please refer to the position profile.
Essential to your success is physical agility and the level of fitness, strength and dexterity to carry out labouring and frequent heavy lifting & bending. As such, appointment to this position is subject to completion of a pre-employment medical assessment.
