Why work with us?

At Council, we’re proud of our region. We collaborate with community to achieve truly sustainable outcomes, enhance our enviable lifestyle, and create award-winning places and spaces that are uniquely Sunshine Coast. So, if you love it here as much as we do, and you want to shape our region for the future – you’ll want to join our team!

With the vision to be Australia’s most sustainable region -Connected. Liveable. Thriving, our region is a model of sustainability, where caring for our environment, creating vibrant communities and growing our local economy is a way of life.

About the Role

Our developers create the enterprise systems that keep Council running efficiently — and the apps that make life simpler and safer for more than 330,000 residents. If you’re a curious and motivated developer who loves solving complex problems and building things that matter, this is your chance to join a team that’s shaping the region’s digital future.

As an Analyst/Developer, you’ll:

  • Design, build, and maintain secure, high-performing applications and APIs using .NET and Azure.
  • Create and integrate systems that improve how Council works — from data exchange to customer-facing apps.
  • Work within a DevOps culture using CI/CD pipelines, Git, and modern cloud services.
  • Collaborate across projects that blend AI, automation, and enterprise integration.
  • Share knowledge and continuously improve through peer reviews, mentoring, and collaboration.
  • Help shape the digital experience for both the community and the people who serve it.

About you

You might come from a background in software development, enterprise integration, or full-stack engineering — what matters most is curiosity and a drive to keep learning. You’ll have:

  • Experience with C#, .NET, and modern web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
  • Familiarity with Azure, API development, and SQL Server.
  • Understanding of CI/CD, version control (Git), and modern development practices.
  • A passion for clean, testable, maintainable code.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with a willingness to collaborate and share ideas.

If you’re more experienced (Level 6), you’ll also bring technical leadership — mentoring others, guiding architecture decisions, and contributing to standards that raise the bar across Council.

Our Culture & Employee Benefits

Council is committed to creating an inclusive, culturally diverse, healthy, skilled and dedicated workplace culture. As an employee you will enjoy a range of benefits and working styles to suit you:

  • Flexible work arrangements: balance your week with hybrid options.
  • Rostered Day Off (RDO): every four weeks.
  • Work on projects that directly impact your community.
  • Supportive, award-winning team culture: learning, growth, and improvement are key to Council’s goals.

How to apply

Your written application should include:

  • A 1-2 page cover letter demonstrating your ability to fulfil the mandatory and desirable requirements on the Position Profile. Keep the key responsibilities in mind when addressing this criteria; and
  • A current resume or curriculum vitae.

Once you have these two documents ready, click ‘Apply Now’ and follow the prompts to complete your application.
