About the Role

Arts, Heritage and Libraries enlivens and enriches the lives of residents and visitors through the provision of library services, creative, cultural and heritage programs. Library+ Caloundra will meet the demand for a contemporary experience that includes expanded programs and service access for the community.     

The primary purpose of the role is to provide excellent customer service to visitors to ensure the best possible experience for guests and security strategies for a safe and welcoming environment.

In this role you will provide excellent customer service to all visitors to Library+ Caloundra, including but not limited to:

  • Perform daily building operational requirements in line with established policies and procedures including opening and closing procedures, and monitoring cleanliness and use of shared spaces.
  • Provide first tier assistance for building services, including visitor sign-in, confirmation of room and resource bookings, event registrations, wi-fi connectivity, hearing augmentation needs, and assistance for routine services.
  • Maintain knowledge of building procedures, services, events and programs to provide a quality customer experience.
  • Conduct regular patrols of the building in accordance with relevant procedures and training.
  • Monitor visitor behaviour and implement appropriate response or de-escalation strategies where required, including supporting the removal of individuals from the premises following established procedures.
  • Support emergency management responsibilities, including first aid, fire warden and emergency response activities in line with procedures as required.

About you

  • As a requirement of this role, you will have a current Queensland security provider licence (Class 1), noting qualifications and licence must be kept up to date.
  • You will have demonstrated relevant experience in providing customer service and security at a similar facility.
  • You will have demonstrated the ability to effectively utilise verbal, radio or computer/device based communication systems within provided guidance/procedures.
  • Ability to work unsupervised and exercise appropriate judgement in challenging situations.
  • Ability to work regular weekends (under an any 5 in 7days arrangement) as rostered, including early morning and evening work.
  • Desirable experience in a library services, customer service, venue or local government environment.
  • Possess current First Aid and CPR certifications and Current Blue Card for Queensland’s Working with Children Check or ability to obtain one.

Pre-Employment Medical Required

Essential to your success is physical agility and the level of fitness, strength and dexterity to carry out labouring and frequent heavy lifting & bending. As such, appointment to this position is subject to completion of a pre-employment medical assessment.

Criminal History Check Required

Appoitment to this position is subject to the satisfactory completion of a Criminal Check.
