About the Role

To coordinate, manage and deliver capital works through the engagement of both internal and external service providers. In addition to the provision of a focal point for the coordination of capital programs from design hand over to completion whilst also providing comprehensive forward planning and project management services to project clients and customers.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Review construction programs for the timely delivery of road construction works. The program will include works for all of Council’s civil assets, such as roads, stormwater, bridges, waste and coastal structures
  • Liaise with Works Supervisors and Project Officers to ensure efficient allocation of plant and labour resources.
  • Participate and ensure regular meetings and open communications, ranging from on-site toolbox meetings to formal Safety Committees and presentations as necessary to lead a strong safety culture with work crews and contractors and maintain sound working relationships (internal and external)
  • Review designs and estimates for road construction works as required prior to issue of design for construction
  • Lead assigned works crews and contractors, fostering a work culture reflective of council’s corporate values including managing performance, learning and development, recruitment and engagement activities

About you

You’ll be a strong forward planner, with the ability to examine situations, make decisions, and manage priorities. You’ll be knowledgeable around legislation and standards related to the role, which will be accompanied by your strong communication skills to engage stakeholders and deliver outcomes.

Additionally, you will have tertiary qualifications in engineering and eligibility to meet RPEQ certification. Extensive relevant experience and knowledge in the delivery of road construction and maintenance works is also required.
