About the Role
The Regulatory Response Services Branch supports a great place to live by working with the community and businesses to deliver timely, customer‑focused compliance, advice, and education across local laws, environment, health, and legislative requirements. The branch plays a vital role in maintaining community safety, protecting public spaces, and encouraging positive behaviours through education and proactive engagement.
As a Proactive Compliance Response Officer, you will deliver frontline compliance and education activities across Council‑controlled land, with a strong focus on voluntary compliance and community engagement. This role is key to maintaining public safety, protecting amenity, and promoting responsible behaviours—particularly around pet ownership and use of public spaces—through visible patrols, practical enforcement, and education initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct proactive patrols to monitor and enforce compliance with local laws
- Investigate offences, gather evidence, issue notices, and support legal processes
- Provide clear advice and directions to support compliance and community safety
- Deliver and promote community education and engagement activities
About you
You bring experience applying legislation, policies, and procedures within a compliance or regulatory environment and take pride in working to high professional standards.
You communicate confidently with the community, using sound judgement, tact, and initiative to resolve issues while balancing education with enforcement.
You are organised and adaptable, with the ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
You enjoy working outdoors, can undertake physically demanding patrol duties, and thrive in a role that supports community wellbeing and positive outcomes.
Pre-Employment Medical Required?
Essential to your success is physical agility and the level of fitness, strength and dexterity to carry out labouring and frequent heavy lifting & bending. As such, appointment to this position is subject to completion of a pre-employment medical assessment.
