About the Role
Our Parks & Gardens Branch are seeking multiple Parks Worker / Operators to join their productive field team in maintaining our region’s vast array of outdoor spaces. The role is responsible for maintenance activities such as
- irrigation management
- planting and pruning of trees & shrubs
- weeding and mulching
- treatment of pests and diseases
The successful candidate will also undertake mowing and turf management practices within our parks precincts and open spaces.
Your daily duties will encompass a variety of tasks from removal of green waste and litter to assisting in landscape construction and maintenance within Sunshine Coast parks and gardens. As a requirement of the role, you will undertake general labouring as necessary.
This position holds a strong safety and compliance focus whereby obligations under the Workplace Health and Safety Act and Environmental Protection Act are central to daily duties.
About you
As someone passionate about Horticulture and the outdoors, who brings a high level of energy you will possess a Certificate II in Horticulture or have relevant experience in the field.
You are a team player, eager to join a high-performing team, utilising your strong problem-solving abilities to complete all tasks within set timeframes.
A requirement of the position is to hold a Work Safely in the Construction Industry White Card along with “LR” class driver’s licence.
Essential to your success is physical agility and the level of fitness, strength and dexterity to carry out labouring and frequent heavy lifting & bending. As such, appointment to this position is subject to completion of a pre-employment medical assessment.
Candidates possessing the following will be highly regarded for the role:
- AC/DC Licence
- Certificate III in Horticulture
- 2 years recent and continous horticultural or landscaping experience
- Chainsaw and other mechanical and hand held gardening equipment licences (e.g. Ride-On Mower)
- Experience in operating equipment such as mowers, chainsaws, mulchers, brush cutters, blower vacs
