About the Role

Parks & Gardens is responsible for the care, management and operation of public open space, foreshore reserves and recreational areas, supporting both active and passive recreation while preserving natural landscape and environmental features.

As Parks Supervisor, you will coordinate and lead day‑to‑day horticultural, landscaping and arboriculture activities across your allocated area. This field‑based leadership role oversees the delivery of construction, maintenance and open‑space enhancement works, ensuring quality standards, forward planning, safe work practices and responsive customer service. You will guide, motivate and develop team members while identifying solutions to site‑based challenges and contributing to operational planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise horticulture, landscaping and arboriculture activities, ensuring planned, systematic and high‑quality work delivery.
  • Lead parks/gardens construction and maintenance activities while motivating and supporting team capability development.
  • Identify and resolve worksite challenges, adopting alternative techniques to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Evaluate and action service requests and public enquiries, ensuring timely and responsive customer service.

About you

You bring strong supervisory experience and the ability to lead, motivate and develop operational teams in a dynamic field environment. You have relevant technical expertise in horticulture, landscaping or arboriculture supported by formal qualifications or extensive experience, and you maintain a practical, solution‑focused approach.

You demonstrate high‑level awareness of safety obligations and environmental responsibilities, with the ability to ensure compliance with WHS, environmental protection requirements and Council procedures.

You are confident in making decisions, guiding work planning, and maintaining high standards of quality, productivity and customer service. You bring strong communication skills and the ability to support staff through change.

You take pride in contributing to high‑quality community spaces and value teamwork, integrity and continuous improvement in field operations.

Pre-Employment Medical Required

Essential to your success is physical agility and the level of fitness, strength and dexterity to carry out labouring and frequent heavy lifting & bending. As such, appointment to this position is subject to completion of a pre-employment medical assessment.
