About the Role

Help keep the Sunshine Coast’s parks and public spaces clean, safe and beautiful. You’ll work outdoors across a wide network of recreational areas, supporting daily cleaning, maintenance and care of our natural and urban environments. This hands‑on role is varied, physical and rewarding — with guidance from the Parks Leader (Cleaning Services) as you build your skills.

Make a real impact every day in Australia’s most sustainable region.

  • Carry out a mix of general labouring and specialised cleaning tasks across parks, public amenities and community spaces.
  • Clean public conveniences, BBQs, streets and parks, and remove litter from beaches, roadsides and other Council assets.
  • Deliver hands‑on, high‑quality cleaning services that keep our region safe, tidy and welcoming.
  • Operate and maintain small plant and equipment — including water blasters, generators and other cleaning tools.
  • Look after all chemicals, machinery and tools, ensuring they’re used safely and kept in excellent working order.
  • Work closely with a small, supportive team, sharing knowledge and contributing to efficient, value‑for‑money service delivery.
  • Help drive productivity improvements and follow all safety, environmental and quality standards.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development to build your skills and performance.
  • Support call‑outs when required and assist in guiding junior or temporary staff.

Operate a range of plant and equipment, including:

  • Pneumatic‑tyred tractor without powered attachments
  • Pneumatic‑tyred tractor with powered attachments up to 110 kW

About you

You’re someone who enjoys hands‑on work, takes pride in doing a job well, and thrives in an outdoor, fast‑paced environment. You bring reliability, physical capability, and a commitment to safety along with the flexibility needed to support a busy cleaning and maintenance service that keeps our community spaces looking their best.

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • A current C Class driver’s licence.
  • Immunisations — Hepatitis A & B and Tetanus.
  • Willingness to work a varied span of hours (3:00am–6:00pm), with overtime and regular weekend shifts.
  • Flexibility to participate in after‑hours call‑outs when needed.
  • Ability to complete required corporate, safety and departmental inductions.
  • Essential to your success is physical agility and the level of fitness, strength and dexterity to carry out labouring and frequent heavy lifting & bending. As such, appointment to this position is subject to completion of a pre-employment medical assessment.
