About the Role

The Arts, Heritage and Libraries Branch enriches the lives of residents and visitors by offering cultural leadership, lifelong learning opportunities, creative experiences, and community connection. The branch plays a vital role in building a strong, inclusive, and vibrant region—making this an inspiring place to contribute your expertise and passion.

As a Literacy Services Supervisor, you will:

  • Manage and deliver literacy programs that strengthen community literacy outcomes
  • Lead, support and develop a high‑performing team of literacy staff and volunteers
  • Coordinate recruitment, selection, and assessment processes for staff and volunteers
  • Provide training and development to ensure best‑practice teaching and mentoring
  • Develop initiatives that improve learner access to resources and reduce barriers to participation
  • Build partnerships with community groups, agencies, and training organisations to strengthen service impact
  • Foster connections across libraries and council to ensure integrated, aligned service delivery
  • Pursue funding and grant opportunities to grow literacy services
  • Oversee the Literacy Collection in line with the Collection Development Plan
  • Support budget preparation, financial monitoring, and strong governance practices.

About you

  • Bring recognised qualifications in adult education and a passion for supporting learners to succeed.
  • Are experienced in adult learning environments and confident in leading a skilled, motivated team.
  • Communicate with warmth, clarity, and professionalism, engaging people from diverse and multicultural backgrounds.
  • Build strong, positive relationships and thrive in community‑centred environments.
  • Have demonstrated experience designing or delivering training, coaching, or educational resources.
  • Are organised, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Bring sound business acumen and can prepare high‑quality written communications and program materials.
  • Are committed to integrity, professionalism, and maintaining strong ethical standards.
  • Value collaboration and enjoy working closely with internal and external partners to achieve shared goals.
  • Are aligned with Council’s values and are motivated to contribute to meaningful community outcomes.
