About the Role
This is an exciting leadership opportunity within Council’s Asset Management Branch, which is responsible for developing asset management strategies and plans that ensure financial sustainability and respond to emerging risks and opportunities across the region.
As the Fleet Maintenance Leader, you play a vital role in leading and coordinating the Fleet Services Maintenance team to ensure the efficient, safe, and compliant operation of Council’s fleet. also optimising fleet performance and reliability across Council operations. You’ll provide coaching, mentoring, and guidance to the Fleet Maintenance team, ensuring high standards of service delivery and operational excellence.
- Provide leadership through coaching, mentoring, advice, and assistance to the Fleet Maintenance team, establishing systems, business improvement processes, and work instructions that foster a collaborative environment focused on resource, knowledge, and information sharing to deliver excellence in customer service.
- Ensure the Fleet Services Maintenance team administers day-to-day service delivery for the Fleet Services Business Area to meet customer needs across Council.
- Bring expert advice and insights into fleet and plant maintenance, tailoring solutions to meet the specific needs of Council’s various teams and departments.
- Manage service and repair workflow to minimise vehicle downtime and maximise efficiency. Prioritise urgent repairs and breakdowns to ensure minimal disruption to service delivery.
- Liaise and manage productive relationships with contractors and internal stakeholders to ensure Fleet Services delivers a high level of customer service.
- Organisation and facilitation of risk assessments to identify hazards in order to implement control measures that can eliminate or minimise risks for all Fleet, plant and equipment.
About you
You are a professional in Fleet Maintenance Management, with experience in medium to large-scale plant and fleet repairs. You hold relevant tertiary qualifications.
Your strengths include:
- Substantial industry experience in plant and fleet repairs medium to large scale with strong mechanical knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and vehicle diagnostics.
Exceptional written communication, negotiation, networking, and advocacy skills to build strong relationships with suppliers and contractors.
Ability to manage a complete range of generic and specialist repairs and maintenance activities.
Demonstrated, or capacity to acquire and apply, knowledge in procurement strategies, including sourcing contracts, service level agreements, quality assessment, benchmarking, and contract performance.
