The Transport Network Operations branch provides high level maintenance, construction and asset management services for all road and related infrastructure assets (pavements, bridges, drainage, pathways and street furniture). Continuous performance improvement through leadership and employee engagement is a critical focus of the group.
As a Field leader, you are responsible for coordinating and delivering day-to-day activities involved in the construction and maintenance programs including leading staff safety, fostering a work culture reflective of council’s values and assisting with the formulation and monitoring of capital works asset rehabilitation and maintenance programs.
We are looking for candidates that have performed and supervised designated tasks through construction and maintenance phases, including roads, concrete and timber structures, drainage infrastructure and, disaster related events.
Primarily, you will:
- Assist with ordering of plant and materials as required for allocated projects.
- Exercising precision skills in areas involving advanced and specialised processes or technology. Having skills that you enable you to detect and rectify of problems requiring detailed knowledge (beyond that applicable at the trade or equivalent level) of a specialised area.
- Exercise a significant level of discretion in relation to the organisation of work, the application of appropriate skills and timeframes for completion under remote supervision
About you
You will possess a Certificate III in Civil Construction and have demonstrated experience and the ability to coordinate the delivery of civil construction and maintenance functions or project-based activities without direct supervision.
You will possess previous experience involving Local Government concreting, kerb & channel & pathway maintenance (or equivalent) work, including supervisory experience and a current Queensland ‘C’ driver’s licence.
Essential to your success is physical agility and the level of fitness, strength and dexterity to carry out labouring and frequent heavy lifting & bending. As such, appointment to this position is subject to completion of a pre-employment medical assessment.
